Better Assessment: Reflecting on a Year of Remote Teaching

We invite you to reflect on your assessment practices: what you’ ll keep as you head back to campus in the fall and what you’ll never do again.

As you wrap up a year of remote teaching, we invite you to reflect on your assessment practices: what you’ll keep as you head back to campus in the fall and what you’ll never do again.

The level of experimentation during the pandemic was immense. Instructors were faced with the challenge of effective remote assessment while maintaining strong student outcomes. Whether evaluating student learning via answer sheets, open ended questions, essays, handwritten diagrams or problem-solving questions, the problem remained the same: instructors spent too much time grading and often couldn’t effectively assess and improve student understanding with traditional tools.

Join us for guided reflection and discussion on strengthening your assessment practices. Led by Lyn Riverstone and Katy Dumelle, former instructors and current Turnitin Academic Partnership Managers, this webinar will explore common experiences and how Gradescope can help streamline the assessment process for instructors and students.

Learning outcomes:
  1. Explore a model to structure reflection and strengthen your assessment practices
  2. Assess how the model can be applied using a common example that spans all disciplines—exams that include a mix of question types including answer sheets and open ended questions
  3. Breakdown how Gradescope helps streamline mixed question exams
